Heat 8: The Dev, Camden, London, 27 March 2026

Imaginary Dreamers // Sceptocrypt

A bonus heat of two bands tonight. The light was extra challenging, very dark, lot of smoke but we do what we can. Hopefully captured some of the energy and atmosphere.

First band of the evening were Imaginary Dreamers. We got there a little later than planned and they were already on stage. They are a three-piece playing serious and thoughtful rock that doesn't get pretentious, rather managing to retain heartfelt, personal, and honest. They have a stand-in drummer who does a good job, making full use of the kit to give the songs solid, heavy power, as well as expression. The bass is nice and loud with a little bit of complexity to underpin the sound, while the guitar has enough distortion to fill the sound out and give it a dirty edge. The vocals have a touch of grungy attitude that brings soul to the music. It's a strong performance and if Kreator hadn't been playing in Brixton, they may well have got a big crowd moving.
